Real Simple

This post not only refers to the title of my favorite magazine, but also our latest baby-gear purchase. With Julia now eating some real people food (she still nurses very well, just eats and experiments with other foods here and there) we decided it was time to buckle down and buy a highchair. Browsing through the baby stuff aisles in a few stores, I was not excited about lugging home any of those huge, bulbous, primary-colored, all bells and whistles attached high chairs. I searched online and in several stores for a basic chair that is simply, well, high. And then it came to me. IKEA, of course! I checked online, found that they do carry two highchair styles, even read many glowing reviews. Soon enough, we had purchased the simplest high chair on the market - no frills, no fuss, and less than $25. No, it doesn't fold up, but the legs easily pop on and off. The tray isn't adjustable, which doesn't seem to be a problem. There is no seat cushion, but honestly, it's for eating! Although it doesn't look it, the light-weight chair is very sturdy. And best of all, it takes up minimal space in our kitchen, it's refreshingly white (why do manufacturers think all baby stuff neads to look like the circus???), and so easy to wipe clean. Thank you, IKEA!Below: Julia, apparently fed-up with posing for pictures.
I guess it could be exhausting.

Anyway, Julia LOVES eating in her new chair where she can be eye-level with the rest of the family at meal-time. (You should see her chubby legs kick like crazy under the tray when I give her pieces of banana. Ha!) If any of you are on the market for a no-fuss, basic highchair, check this one out.Oh, and just so you know, I am not against frills on all baby things. Check out the ruffle-bum on Julia's jammies.

I just want to squeeze her cheeks right now! She is getting so grown up and I love it and hate it at the same time. She just gets cuter and cuter! She'll be talking by the time I see her again. I love the High chair. My friend also has it and would be one to give a glowing review. Well done.

I never thought to look at Ikea! We had one of those huge padded, circus looking ones for Ellie, and I HATED it. We left it behind in Virginia and went for a simple booster seat for Cade. Much better. I agree that with high chairs, less is definately more! Julia is sooo adorable!

So smart! I may have to go get one myself.

She is such a cute, happy baby!

Yes, frills are essential for some things, but high chairs are not one of them. You know how I feel about it--I just have a booster seat with a tray!

Yes, I know the chair well. I do like the kind that just sit on an everyday chair, but they DO always have seat pads, and sheesh! Those are hard to clean. I'm sure she loves her high chair.

We were about to purchase that chair the other day for nana's house...I do love that it sits level with the table too, now if only scott and I had a kitchen table!

I absolutely love the photos with her face down. It looks like something from Charlie Brown.
