There's an ice-cream man that drives through our neighborhood quite often. As I was putting my bike up in the garage I heard his catchy tune. With Jonny working late, Julia in bed, and me all alone with not much to do (just finished my book last night -
Adam Bede by George Eliot - oh, so amazing!), I decided I'd better treat myself this evening. I felt a little funny as I walked briskly toward the truck so he'd stop. (I thought running would seem too anxious.) Then I felt a little sillier giving him my quarters and asking for a creamsicle. Oh yeah, and I was in my pajamas at 7:30. (If Julia is in hers, it is only fair I get to be comfortable too.) Walking back in the house with my frozen delight, I had a really fun summery feeling. So here's to you, ice cream man. Thanks for making the rounds at just the right time.

Ah yes, great memories. And ice cream truck, what a novel idea. And good choice on the treat.
Remind me to tell you what I ended up making tonight.
I'm glad you got to enjoy a little treat tonight. It does feel funny running to the truck and waiting in line with a bunch of 3 feet tall kiddos. I just try to act cool.
Wow, Melody, you are certainly going back to your childhood! Perhaps being a new mom does that sort of thing. But hey, ice cream is ice cream, and a customer is a customer, and a feather bed is a feather bed... wait... never mind. Anyway, creamsicles are good.
Never be ashamed of a good appreciation of ice cream on wheels.
Hahahaha Drew!
Yum! Thinking of the song alone brought back tons of memories! I would always run inside as fast as I could hoping my mom had enough spare change and then run back hoping he hadn't left our street yet. I always wanted anything that had bubblegum eyes :o)
HA! Very cute. Yes, I get in my jammies as soon as the kids are in bed. No way I'm making it past 8:00.
very cute post! What a life- in your pj's eating ice cream :) We have the "Mexican" ice cream trucks here :)
neato. and to think some neighborhoods don't let the ice cream man come around because of the "noise". jeesh.
it's always fun to to things you did as a kid. I had a professor last semester that made us do something like that every week and journal it...it actually turned out to be fun. maybe next week you should make a fort out of couch cushions with julia!
That dang ice cream man! He won't stop coming to our neighborhood, and when I have 17 kids over here all looking at me with those eyes, there goes my whole coin jar!
