At my last checkup the dentist informed me that there is a leak in my cavity. (I am not surprised, as a different dentist who filled it six months ago had to do it three times and said things like "dang it" all the while. Plus, it has been sensitive ever since. Hmmm.) He said it is either that, or it could possibly require a root canal. I literally gasped, "Really!?? Well, root canal or not?" He said something like, "Well, this dark spot on the x-ray could mean infection. Or it could just be a bad picture - something wrong with the x-ray." And leaving me with that high-quality information, they scheduled me to come in a few weeks later. They will start drilling as if it is just a cavity, and will find out if it is more than that.
Don't worry, if I do need to have a root canal, I will come in another day. I guess they figure having three teeth ripped out of my mouth and either a cavity filling or the news of a root canal will be traumatic enough for one day. I'm just focusing on the wisdom teeth right now. It just occurred to me, will Julia be terrified of her puffy-cheeked mommy!? She is already strangely preferring Jonny to me. Only time will tell...

Oh dear. Those are all bad teeth news. Why haven't you had your wisdom teeth out before??? Crazy.
welcome to the world of bad teeth! I have undergone 3 root canals and 3 crowns in my life...they aren't as bad as people think. happy drilling!!
I must disagree with Jill. I had two crowns just last year and I was on heavy painkillers for 3 weeks to even survive. The temporaries were awful and they are still super sensitive. Maybe I shouldn't have said that? I'm sure you'll be fine. On the bright side, I didn't swell at all when I got my wisdom teeth out, and I'm even wiser now than I was with them.
good luck. Must say that I had a bad experience with the recovery of my wisdom teeth... but, it was rare he said. I hope all goes well. Are you doing it with an oral surgeon or not being put to sleep? Do you need me to bring you some special ice cream?
Good luck! I had my wisdom teeth out a year ago and was back to work the next day with an ice pack. Just stay on top of the pain and I am sure Jon will take good care of you! The swelling is actually kind of fun because it made my whole face look different. I am sending non-root canal thoughts your way!
Sounds like pudding for Melody!! We're excited to see you guys on Saturday. Good luck with your teeth :)
Poor thing. I'm sure it's different for everyone but when I had my wisdom teeth out it wasn't too bad at all. I mean it wasn't the best couple days of my life but it wasn't the worst either. I even had a dry socket which I'd heard was supposed to be really painful but it actually didn't hurt too bad at all. I even stopped taking painkillers after the second day.
So good luck to you! You're tough, I'm sure you'll barely feel a thing...and I bet both Jonny and Julia will LOVE it, you'll be their little chipmunk :o)
Never fear, wisdom teeth are yanked all the time. I guess that IS something I would never relive in a million years, but sometimes people have a no-problem experience with removal of wisdom teeth. We'll come over and bring you some pudding.
As for root canals--they're not too bad, and it's like a miracle of modern medicine once it's done. The pain simply disappears, as if it's never been there in the first place.
Yuck, I'm not the biggest fan of the dentist. Don't worry, I had FIVE wisdom teeth, sick I know, and they came out so easily. I was NEVER in pain. It was smooth sailing. Good luck with everything!
Oh, I was going to tell you that I lived on frozen Jr. Mints while I recovered. They tasted so good.
Hello my toothless friend; I have yet another comment. What is your address and we can bring some frozen goodies?
Make sure to take a picture of your puffy cheeks, the preschool kids wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Also, they wondered where Ju Ju was!!!
hey jonny- did you have a chance to check out that camera site?
