"Shishy"

Julia loves fishes. My sister Cami made a small photo book of cousins for all the kids in the family. Julia loves each page, but her favorite part is the Snapfish logo on the back cover. "Shishy!"

On Saturday afternoon we decided to check out the ocean life at the aquarium in Sandy. (Julia and I went in the summer, but she'd appreciate it much more now.) We headed up there only to find a packed parking lot and a line filing out the door. Turns out there was a new exhibit or something that was attracting the crowds to the small aquarium. I insisted we come back another day, and get on with the rest of our errands. Jonny, however, was determined to keep his promise to Julia. (We'd been talking about seeing the fishes all afternoon.) Waiting in a long line with an antsy toddler was not an option so Jonny drove us to the next best place: Petsmart. They had a whole wall of fishes there and Julia was thrilled. Thanks for delivering, Daddy. Maybe next week we'll show this girl some real "shishies." Or maybe we'll just see how long she's happy with 10 cent goldfish.

I LOVE this age. I think now that they are starting (in our case 'trying') to talk, it's so rewarding! Also fun to see their interests in new things in the world. Brings back a little magic, don't you think?

Jackson has a new obsession with animals lately and so we went up to Point Defiance Zoo this week. I have NEVER seen a child so giddy at the sight of an animal. We had to go back and forth to the "peenkins" (penguins) cage several times. Jackson also LOVES fish right now...I think we watch Finding Nemo about 12 times a day.

I remember her in the doctors office with the huge fish tank. She was so excited. Oh I miss that excited little face.

I've also had the pleasure of watching Finding Nemo dozens of times when I babysit. It's actually quite cute. Even after all the viewings.

Hey, those little petsmart fishes ARE real shishies. :) Very cute. I wonder what the fascination with fishes is. Jeffy seriously did watch Nemo nonstop.

How fun that she's so aware of the world around her. I probably would have never thought of Petsmart as a plan B. I'm impressed.

You could always head to Cabelas to look at their giant trout and bass...unless those fish scare her. They are quite large :)

Skipping the line and going to Petsmart instead was a brilliant idea. I used to love going to the pet stores when I was little.
I'm glad Julia's feeling better too.
