"This is a great day for washing a toilet."

Julia loves to help me clean the bathrooms. And I actually don't mind the chore when such a cheerful helper is doing the job with me. Pretty much everything she says, and the way she says it, has me holding back laughter. (She is so sincere so I try not to laugh out loud.) If you were eavesdropping on our conversation outside the bathroom door today, you would have heard...

"This is a great day for washing a toilet. Thank you for letting me wash the toilet."

While we were scrubbing the tub together, "So Mom, what are you going do tomorrow?" followed by polite responses to my answers.

"We are so nice to each other, Mom. We are great friends."

In a sing-song voice: "Could you scoot over a little please so I can wipe the floor? Thank you!"

I didn't quite understand this one, but it's what she said while standing back and looking at all she had scrubbed. "These are happily ever to clean!"

The best parts, though, are the songs she makes up. When she's not engaged in polite conversation, she is making up a song about whatever she is cleaning at the time. Sometimes she uses a familiar tune and other times she comes up with one all her own. I really need to catch one on video sometime.

Okay, so this doesn't have to do with cleaning the bathroom. But here are some things she said earlier today that I couldn't let go without writing them down:

"Mom, let's all play with my princess magnets, as a family."  And when we were done playing, "Okay, enough silliness for you guys. Enough princesses for we."

Earlier this week at dinner, "Daddy, I'm so glad you are home where you belong."

One more, from her prayer just now, "Dear Heavenly Father, I hope I can remember to show the preschool kids my owie on my chin tomorrow..."

If only I could record every thing she says. This is such a fun age. I remember my nieces at this age and I wished they'd never grow. I guess they are pretty cool now that they are older (by "pretty cool" of course I mean darling and awesome and still hilarious), but I do miss little Katy, Jilly, and Ally. Oh, how much I will miss my silly little JuJu. Luckily I have a feeling she will grown up into a silly big JuJu. And that surely won't be all bad...
(She is signing "Dad" here. I think she was watching Signing Time when I took these shots.)

That Juju, what a doll. You're right, this is a fun age...I need to be better about writing down little snippets like this.

Keep em' coming!

I wish I had that attitude while cleaning my toilets! Seriously, I want to put that quote in a frame in the bathroom- "This is great day for washing a toilet!" I love it that much. Because really, it is a great day. PS Another story about your grandma I have this friend that did a 5k ( I'm pretty sure it was your gramma, ask her if she ran in a St patrick's 5k) so my friend is a new runner and she was talking about her mother in law and how she ran it faster and she was discouraged, she's like I couldn't even keep up with this old woman who had to be at least 70! I'm like- was she really cute? and blond? and abnormally tan? yes, yes, and yes. And she nearly beat you? yes. She's like: She was amazing! The end.

I wish I had a hilarious bathroom cleaning companion! You need to put me on speaker one of these days so I can be in on these great conversations. I love you Juju!

Yes! Is that a race for Pioneer Day?
We are always around, or have been for the last several years, for the 24th! That would be so fun, it would be fun if I could keep up with you and your grandma which probably won't happen. I really love the idea of making races a tradition and want to start doing more! Thanks Melody! Let me know if you are coming up ok? Would love to see you!

What a cute silly girl! I love the age when they love to help and when they try to act so big.
Lydia is starting to carry on conversations and make up songs - way too fun!
