The title above was three-year-old Julia's response when Aunt Cortnie wished her a happy birthday. (Julia is in a habit of immediately returning compliments and greetings. It often comes out pretty awkward, like this one. Another example: a few weeks ago at the park a little girl said she liked Julia's sunglasses. Julia came out with, "I like yers...eyes...and yers glasses at home.")
But really, it was a happy birthday for us all. There is nothing like watching your own little friend delight in childhood's most exciting moments. She had been talking about her birthday since Gabe's two weeks ago. She loved that all her cousins wore their pajamas to her Pajama Party (in honor of her getting a big girl bed.) Dancing, jumping on the tramp, and eating popcorn with her best friends made her day. But unfortunately, the deluxe rainbow cake I thought she'd just love was something of a disappointment. It wasn't pink. (Practically the only color is wasn't.) Apparently she secretly had her heart set on a pink cake. Well! She ate it happily anyway. It was cake, after all.
So our baby is three. What next - four, five, kindergarten!? I can't think it. Not right now. But I must say that the older she gets, the more fun we have together. I hope that holds true throughout her life. I have a feeling it will.

I am VERY sad to not have been there. It looks so fun. And I can't believe I haven't talked to you about how the cake turned out yet! It looks PERFECT! Silly Juju for snubbing it. I might just have to make that for fun one of these days. And the bed is also adorable. Lucky Julia!
I am laughing out loud at her response to the little girl with "sunglasses at home"!!!! SO FUNNY!! Also... Next time you are in Cedar hills you must try calling again!!! I would be HONORED to have you stop by! I am dying to see your little kiddos! And last of all I have been trying out your changing diaper trick with Harrison and it is truly a MIRACLE!!!! Can't thank you enough!!
It was great fun! The cake was a sight to behold, and very delicious, which Julia surely must have recognized and appreciated. Thanks for the fun times! I declare a Dodgeball rematch!
Excellent recap of a great party. She's a darling. I had huge fun play potato head with Julia.
Awesome cake!
Oh heck how darling! she is so so cute. Happy Birthday Julia. I love that big girl bed and the cake was RAD
I do that as an adult- like at the airport- someone will say have a nice trip! I also am a nerd and say: Thanks you too! or enjoy your meal! Thanks you too! And there's no smooth way of coming back from that.
She's not alone :) I love the bedding you chose for her! So cute!
What a darling three year old! I love that idea of having a PJ party in celebration of her big girl bed.
The cake looked amazing, what kind of food coloring did you use to get such vibrant colors?
It was the gel colors - and quite a bit!
Ummm . . . Amber was supposed to erase that picture. Man.
Juju, you are a funny monkey. We had a GREAT time at the party. She looks so sad about her un-pink cake. Very sad. Awesome bed. Hope she's staying in it!
Thanks for the fun slide show. I'll make some prints for the photo wall.
Juju is so so way aweson! We love her hilarious guts!!!
I cannot believe she is 3 already... I vividly remember the very day she was born! What a doll she is. In response to YOUR blog comment (sad that this is our main form of communication these days) we'd love to get together now that it's summer. And I'm all about us holding our own race. We just run them "bandit" style now a days.
If you have the good times with Juju that mom has with you, you're in for some great times. And, yeah, you all grow up way too fast.
