It's hard to believe that our baby Julia is 5 weeks old today. Our lives have been quite different these past weeks, and we wouldn't have it any other way. (Yes, this holds true even at 2 am when we are awoken by her little cry. Well, sometimes it is little!) I don't have much time to type (you never know how long her naps will last) but I am happy to present the first slide show on our blog. I just figured out how to do it (easy for many of you, but I had to experiment a little!) so here it is . . .
Oh, first I will explain what these pictures are. Julia was blessed last Sunday. Jonny gave a beautiful blessing and little Julia was wide awake but didn't make a peep. We were so happy to have Myra, Rudi, and Emi in town for the occasion - as well as Grandma and Grandpa. A huge nightmare (big, messy ice-cream sundae in a punch bowl, for those who are uncertain of the meaning) was enjoyed after the meeting. Also pictured are some snapshots of our 4th of July festivities. Okay, so we napped most of the holiday. But we did make it to Barry's annual party, which is always fun. Well, baby is waking up - gotta go!
P.S. Why do we call the traditional family dessert a "nightmare" anyway? When and where was the first one created? I would love to know the origin - please share if you have any information!

hi melody! i just caught up on your blog! congrats! she is so adorable! i need to come meet her. you are bouncing right back too...way to go! so- i may be wrong but i think the nightmare was the name of an ice cream sundae of some sort at Fenton's in Piedmont...then the fam just adopted it for our own. what a fun tradition it is! congrats on beautiful Julia! she is precious!
melody she gets cuter and cuter everyday! and she seems like a very alery baby! hope to see ya soon!
Cute pics! I don't know the origin of the Nightmare. Stacia is probably right. But boy do I love them. I'm glad you napped most of the 4th. That's the way to go.
I shared about the "nightmare" at my Weight Watchers- meeting I teach. Anyway- you can also do the "dream" which is sherbert and fruit- much healthier :) YOur little one is adorable!
5 weeks old- and I have 5 pregnant weeks left- didn't this 5 weeks go fast for you?
Melody, your baby is adorable. And you look so good after 5 weeks. It's fun to see pictures of your little family!
Oh I miss you guys so much. I'm so glad for the blogs so I can see her grow. She looks a lot older since I saw her three weeks ago. I can't wait for you guys to come in October. I'm counting down the days.
Very cute! And it looks like the bows are staying on well.
And that is no nightmare - that is a dream!
Yes, as all have said, cute, adorable, sweet, etc. baby. And I would like to say she looks just like here Papa Steve. But I can't--to me she looks like Jonny's side. The Graham/Barrett genes must not be dominant. But, we love ya, and are thinking, or maybe dreaming, of you at those 3:00 a.m. wakings.
The nightmare idea came from a favorite ice cream place I think in Berkeley called McCallum's. (But Fenton's was a good guess, Stacia.) Maybe that's where we went for Clark and Blake's baptisms. And then we were all in Utah so we made our own. Have to ask G. Julie and G. Scott to be sure. Love your blog, Didi!
what a cutie baby! we should really get to the root of this nightmare story. :)
Fun slideshow! Teach Me!! Julia was darling in her blessing dress. I love how you capture her many expressions in the pics.
