Just like last year at this time, we have had some unwelcome guests in our apartment. ANTS! They are taking over the place. Okay, it's not
that bad. But from anywhere in the apt, I can see at least five ants - and I'm sure there are dozens on the speckled carpet. I won't be surprised if one shows up on the screen as I type. (That happened several times yesterday.) I usually just let them be. But sometimes enough is enough and I dispose of a few.
Yeah, we bought those ant bait traps (a.k.a."Ant Hotels"). Maybe they just take a few days to do their stuff. We hope to see less of the ants soon. Meanwhile, we are putting our cereal in ziploc bags and trying to ant-proof our stuff the best we can. (Last year the

y ate through a plastic wrapper and completely devoured a hard sucker. I found the evidence on top of the fridge - a sucker stick, void of the candy, inside of the wrapper. There was only a tiny hole in the plastic. Those ants are clever!)

Anyway, beware of the ants. They are harmless, but itchy. And if you have any sure-fire ant removal tips, please let us know!
P.S. Coincidentally, my copy of this book arrived at the school this week (from the book orders). Life is true.

Arrg. I do NOT like having ants in the house. We had ant sneaking in after out both-sides neighbors had their houses sprayed. One morning we awoke to find billions of them on the window sill.
$75 to the local pest guy took care of them. We haven't seen a single ant in 6 months now.
It's worth the $!
ha ha! Didn't _I_ say life is true when I was a kid? Funny.
Also, we just got some raid and sprayed the outside of our house. It worked pretty well. We used to have a lot and now we don't.
Once I found a billion on Jeffy's window sill like Matt. I took some bathroom cleaner and sprayed the crap out of them and wiped them up. I think I might have raided there too. They never came back!
Good luck.
Thanks for the tips. We are moving out of this place on Saturday. But should we have ants in our next apt, I will try your tactics.
Oh yeah Cam, I quote you often!
We had a gnat raid a while ago from an infested plant. Just like you, I let them be for a while, until I couldn't take it anymore. There wouldn't be 5 minutes that would go by with out one of us clapping our hand really hard in the air to kill one. We threw out that plant. Good luck with the next place.
Windex works well - my mom always had ants in her house in Hawaii. Be careful of your flour and sugar. Yuck-ola.
It sounds like you guys have the Ants of Nimh--I can't believe that about the sucker!
